Travel day to Phoenix

We are waiting at Cleveland for our flight....players showed up in all styles of Indian garb and came in all shapes, sizes, ages and personalities. For some it was a big family reunion because they attend every year. Other rookies like us looked lost but everyone welcomed us and said "you'll have a blast". Remembering all the names will be challenge!

Unfortunately it was cold snowy and we needed to de-ice before leaving Cleveland. That meant we had a slight delay in taking off but we arrived in Phoenix a little after 12:00 noon (Phoenix time). They loaded our luggage and us onto 2 charter buses and we headed out to the hotel. It didn't take long for them to get us our rooms and all the information we needed for the rest of the week. We were starving by this time and since we have little need for a vehicle this week we walked down to a unique area called Westgate. Lots of unique resturants & stores. We chose the one in the picture because we could eat out on the terrace. They had portable heaters to keep us warm......come on guys, it's in the 70's, who needs heaters. Anyway....the chaos starts tonight. We have a welcome meal and program and dinner and then tomorrow morning Wayne is up and on his way to the ballpark at 6:30 am and they day will consist of bat selection, clinics and then an intra-squad scrimmage. The draft is later in the evening and from then on he is on a team. According to the guys that have done this before....it's good everyone is put on a team! It was mentioned that on day one very few were using the training room ice baths and by day 3 everyone was in line. This is going to be fun to watch!

The Cardinal staduim is visible from our Hotel room....imagine how busy it was last week!

Westgate is the area we can easily walk to for food This is a picture of the restaurant we chose tonight...we have very few meals we will be responsible for this week. Tomorrow all the baseball pics will start......
